OUR STORY

I got into the mold industry after a two-year-long battle with medical issues none of the doctors could explain for my children and I. Hundreds of doctors appointments, lab tests, MRIs and hospitalizations and no one could explain what was going on with our children. I spent so many sleepless nights researching what could be wrong with my children and never once came across mold. After the children being ill so often, my neighbor suggested I test my house for mold. I had already tested my home for mold a year before this, but the mold inspector told me the results were negative so I didn’t think twice about it (they were not now that I know how to read them), but at this point I was desperate so we decided to test again. When that test came back positive for  Aspergillus Penicillin, Chetomium, Cladosporium, Nigrospora, Epicoccum, Curvularia, Pithomyces, Scopulariopsis, Alternaria, and Ascospores in our home, our lives turned completely upside down. We got those results on a Monday and moved out of our home that Friday and into an Airbnb. 

We lived in that airbnb for 5 months and saw my children come back to life. I put them on a full detox regime and that coupled with the mold-free home changed their health for the better. I’ll never forget the family members who constantly criticized me for taking my kids to the doctor apologizing to me after seeing our children heal. My dad even said “I just didn’t know. I didn’t know mold could do this.” And the sad part is, even though we are all highly educated people, none of us knew mold could affect us the way it did.

My middle son was outwardly affected the worst by mold and had encephalitis of the brain, causing rage, aggression, mood swings, Pans/PANDAS, GI issues, food allergies, and he was in constant lactic acidosis. My youngest son had severe GI issues, ASD-like symptoms, nystagmus, food allergies, and emotional regulation issues. Our oldest had sinus issues, became forgetful, emotional and ADHD. I personally had a rash all over my chest bone, face and eyelids. I had histamine intolerance, constant UTIs, bled out and had to have a hysterectomy, GI issues, anxiety and depression. All of us had very weakened immune systems and still do. We are currently working with a CIRS practioner to heal fully, but have had multiple exposures, so it is a long journey.

One thing that I have learned after having three children with a rare hearing loss, is that mom boards are my best friend. Moms stay up hours upon hours searching for answers for their children that no one else can explain, and I’m here to tell you, I’d put a medical mom up against most researchers and doctors any day of the week. I myself have probably spent 1/2 of my existence as a mom researching. From hearing loss to kidney failure, mold exposure to non-toxic homes, I have spent so many hours of my life helping my children heal that I felt like it was time to share my knowledge with others. 

After that positive mold test, no one could find the mold in our home. We had FIVE mold detection companies come out, and not one of them found the mold. I remember thinking what a waste of time and money it was to have all these air quality tests done and not know where the source was coming from. We had to pay each company to come out, and not one offered to do a wall cavity sample. Not one told us about hidden mold. Not one said to look in the HVAC. Not one recommended calling an IEP. These are all things I now know should have been done, but at the time, had no idea what to even look for. I kept thinking there has to be a better way.

In the summer of 2024 I found out what a mold detection dog was. One day I was out on my back patio praying and reading the Bible and my son came outside to bring me the mail. It was a letter about my dad’s recent passing in July of 2024. And I just emotionally lost it. It felt like a push, in the best way possible. I told my husband I think God wants me to share my knowledge of mold - I think He wants me to get a mold dog and help others so they don’t have to go through what we went through. I started researching, studying and put pen to paper and here we are today. 

My mission is to help others struggling with mold. From reading air quality tests, to walking you through the steps of what needs to happen to fix your home, I am here to walk the journey with you through my consulting. Molly and I can help you pinpoint the exact location of mold in your home or business, keeping the guesswork out of it. Air quality tests are not always accurate, that’s why it’s so important to have multiple data points. An ERMI or EMMA are another good data point, but again, don’t always give you the exact location of the mold.
